17. Big E

Similarly to Wyatt and Hardy, Big E was a fan favourite who, despite a promising start, had a very lacklustre WWE Championship reign.

His initial cash-in on Bobby Lashley was met with great joy from the WWE audience, who had longed to see E succeed as a singles star following his success in The New Day. It seemed at first that WWE were getting behind their new champion as he scored a win over Drew McIntyre at Crown Jewel and then got the main event spot at Survivor Series for his match against Roman Reigns. However, that loss to Reigns was the beginning of the end.

After getting lost in the mix in the build-up to Day 1, Big E lost the title in convincing fashion when he was pinned by Brock Lesnar during the main event fatal five-way. E never got his rematch and was shunted right back down the card immediately after his loss.

Big E gets the nod over the other two because his reign was longer and more eventful, but the same problems exist in all three of these popular wrestler's WWE Championship reigns.
