8. Cody & Dustin Rhodes Vs. The Young Bucks (Fight For The Fallen 2019)

The inaugural Fight For The Fallen had as much of a pay-per-view vibe as a random WWE September pay-per-view, until we reached the main event.

Cody and Dustin Rhodes vs. Matt and Nick Jackson was exactly the type of wrestling that the latter's family adores. The old school mentality, the classic babyface-in-peril situation for Dustin, and crucially, something different from the usual AEW product. It could have been placed on an NWA card, and slotted in wonderfully.

It helped that the Bucks were d*cks the whole way through. Though still officially recognised as babyfaces at this stage, the EVPs gloated over the Rhodes' bodies at various stages. A rather poignant moment had Nick mockingly yell "Tag me, Dustin" while staring down Cody. It worked perfectly given the situation because this wasn't as wild and chaotic as your traditional Young Bucks pay-per-view outing.

In a way, it was almost a changing of the guard. The Young Bucks pinning a member of an iconic wrestling family with roots dating back to the so-called golden age after nailing the definition of an indie finisher - the Meltzer Driver - perhaps had more meaning behind it than meets the eye. It's the sort of hidden meaning you'd expect from an AEW finish, anyway.
