Double Or Nothing 2020 was most notable for being the first AEW PPV produced during the COVID-19 pandemic and the first-ever Stadium Stampede Match between The Elite with Matt Hardy and The Inner Circle. It was one of the first examples of a wrestling company using the awful state of the world to their advantage, as the match that took place in the Jacksonville Jaguars stadium felt refreshingly original.

From the NFL style intros to 'Hangman' Adam Page chasing Sammy Guevara across the football field, to fighting in the stands, Matt Hardy resurrecting his 2.0 gimmick in fun fashion, Jericho smashing the Jacksonville Jaguars mascot with The Judas Effect, and Mike Santana being locked in an ice box, the whole match was entertaining at a point of human existence where fun was severely lacking.

There was plenty of filler in the shape of Dustin Rhodes vs Shawn Spears and Kris Statlander defeating Penelope Ford in a match with no stakes, but thankfully, the second half of the card really heated up. Jon Moxley choked out Brodie Lee to retain his AEW World Championship in a physical matchup, Cody Rhodes won the final of the TNT Championship tournament in a surprisingly good contest with Lance Archer, and Hikaru Shida won her first AEW Women's World title by overcoming Nyla Rose in a No DQ, No Countout match.
