7. vs Randy Orton - WrestleMania XXVII

One year on from facing Mysterio, Punk found himself in a different, yet oddly familiar situation.

Once again, he was head of a midcard stable in a middle-of-the-show match against a former world champion. This time, the stable was The New Nexus - remember those guys? - and his opponent was Randy Orton.

This rivalry had spun out of Orton costing Punk the World Heavyweight Championship three years earlier. Long term booking? Nope. This was the first time that incident had been mentioned since it happened. Clearly the writers were desperate for a reason for these two to fight. Once again, Punk came up short, falling to a midair RKO. Why he attempted a springboard move on Randy Orton of all people is beyond me.

This is another example of a match guilty of nothing more than being average. It's only better than the Mysterio one because it was given more than twice as much time. It's still one of the highlights of WrestleMania XXVII. Although, if you know anything about this show, you'll know that isn't much of a compliment.
