Every Edge Vs Randy Orton PPV Match Ranked From Worst To Best
3. New Years Revolution - 2005
Without taking away from any of Chris Jericho, Chis Benoit or Edge, this one was all about the members of Evolution and the leading angle on Raw at the time of vengeance and underlying issues of cohesion.
The opening five minute exchange between Benoit and Jericho was wrestling poetry in motion, one for the purists as the two outgrappled, outmanoeuvred and outplayed each other. Their exchange of knife edge chops was enough to make even the hardest man wince in pain.
Edge cleaned house upon his entry but was eliminated first in a great little interaction with special guest referee Shawn Michaels, his face being on the receiving end of some Sweet Chin Music.
Batista saved the day for Triple H in a fantastic spot that saw The Game survive being in the Crippler Crossface and Walls of Jericho at the same time, holding on just long enough for The Animal to enter the fray and go on a rampage.
Orton's incredible comeback, eliminating Batista in the process, was painfully cut short by The Animal coming back into the ring, causing enough havoc for Triple H to land a Pedigree on Orton and reclaim the gold.
Unfortunately for Orton, his own story arc of redemption was quickly being overshadowed by that of Batista's ascension to usurp Triple H, meaning The Viper would miss out on the title win that had been building for months. Batista would take the WrestleMania 21 main event, while Orton was given a pretty sweet compromise by facing The Undertaker.
