3. The Entire XFL Season

Despite initially remaining committed to playing its games behind closed doors, the XFL was forced to admit defeat over the weekend when a number of its players tested positive. The decision was then immediately taken to cancel the remainder of the season

“Currently, the XFL will not be playing its regular-season games. However, all players will be paid their base pay and benefits for the 2020 regular season. All XFL ticket holders will be issued refunds or credit toward future games. The XFL is committed to playing a full season in 2021 and future years”.

The decision follows suit with both the NBA and NFL who made the landmark decision to suspend their respective regular seasons in the wake of the initial outbreak, a call that will have been significantly harder for the XFL, being just a few weeks into a such a critical season or rebirth. The early signs had been promising, with both attendances and viewing figures looking pretty healthy, but that'll have to wait until next year now... at the earliest.
