How time flies.

Only a week ago, WWE's high-profile live event in their "spiritual home" of Madison Square Garden was being touted as a possible solution to the WrestleMania problem. With the state of Florida clamping down on live events, but New York happy to press ahead as normal, there was talk that the Showcase of The Immortals could be brought forward and staged there.

But a week's a long time in a Global Emergency, and now the Garden show is cancelled entirely as New York puts a ban on any public gatherings over 500 people. With an expected crowd of almost 18,000 being hoped for, there was no way this could have gone ahead.

There's been no specific word from WWE on the event (there really doesn't need to be) but MSG themselves made the following announcement; “The Madison Square Garden Company supports Governor Cuomo's decision regarding New York venues. We encourage you to check back to this site, which will be your source for further details about our future events, which we will update regularly as more information becomes available.”

Unlike the other non-televised events mentioned, the Garden show was being billed as a celebration of D-Generation X, with Triple H, Shawn Michaels, X-Pac and Road Dogg all advertised as appearing.
