Every Former WWE Superstar And Their Grades Since Joining AEW
2. Jon Moxley (Dean Ambrose)
Grade: A+
When Jon Moxley left WWE and appeared on the Talk Is Jericho podcast, it was clear he had plenty more he intended to accomplish in wrestling. After his 90 minute tongue lashing of Vince McMahon, the lack of artistic freedom in WWE's creative process, and the challenging backstage politics in the industry's biggest promotion, the pressure on Moxley to deliver was immense.
He has easily exceeded those expectations.
Since his departure from WWE, Moxley has captured the AEW World Championship, currently holds the IWGP United States Championship, has been one of the most entertaining workers in the industry, and has put himself in the conversation of best active wrestler on the planet.
Moxley is in career form, putting on fantastic- albeit, difficult to watch at times- unsanctioned matches with Joey Janela and Kenny Omega. He has also elevated younger talent on the AEW roster, with excellent matches with Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara. Moxley's most noticeable change is that he seems to be enjoying his work again, and that can be felt by fans in attendance and watching on TV.
Moxley's most recent title defense against Jake Hager, admittedly, left a lot to be desired and he is currently just waiting for a new #1 contender to emerge for his AEW World Championship. With a roster that includes the likes of Mr.Brodie Lee, Lance Archer, and Adam Page- just to name a few- there are plenty of reasons to be excited to see who steps up to the champ next.
