Every Major WWE Black Wednesday Release Ranked From Least To Most Successful

6. Zack Ryder

Matt Cardona, the former Zack Ryder, has appeared for both All Elite Wrestling and IMPACT Wrestling since the summer.

His run in AEW saw him aligned with Cody Rhodes and the rest of The Nightmare Family for a brief spell of shows, culminating in an All Out victory over a quartet of Dark Order members alongside Dustin Rhodes, QT Marshall, and Scorpio Sky. Why his time in the promotion was so short-lived is a mystery; at least he was featured in a prominent role during his stint there.

Following up on this, however, was Cardona's surprise debut in IMPACT Wrestling, facing Ace Austin in a previously unannounced bout at January's Hard To Kill pay-per-view. Since then, his matches with the likes of Jake Something, Sami Callihan, and Hernandez have ranged from alright to great.

At the time of writing, the former WWE United States Champion is due to collide with Brian Myers at next weekend's Rebellion pay-per-view. It's sure to be a solid encounter to cap off a year of WWE releasing him from their grasp. He's one of a handful of names who has proven that WWE made a huge mistake last April.
