Shane McMahon's first WrestleMania match wasn't quite as glamorous as his last, but his European Championship defence against X-Pac at WrestleMania XV is largely considered to be one of the most underrated matches in WrestleMania history. Shane's limitations were hidden rather than exposed, as the two men put on a solid bout that exceeded expectations and told a crisp story along the way.

Shane even managed to pick up the win and defend his title, albeit thanks to the interference of Triple H and Chyna. WrestleMania XV was largely an underwhelming show, but the battle between Shane and X-Pac featured two men with their working boots on, giving the fans a performance befitting of the WrestleMania stage.

Shane was still trying to put together wrestling matches as opposed to getting himself into position for a major spot, and the chemistry he had with the arguably underrated X-Pac was undeniable. The match was by no means a five star classic, but on a dirge of a show it stood out like a sore thumb.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
