The Chaos lieutenant is one of the true pillars of the company. Having flirted in the past with that upper echelon, Goto remains the definition of 'upper-midcard,' but never fails to deliver in crucial moments.

One such moment arose last year, when Kenny Omega needed a dance partner for the G1 Climax 26 finals. The company passed over the likes of Okada, Tanahashi and Naomichi Marufuji, instead electing to pair Omega with Goto. Their match was sublime, and Goto possessed a real chance of winning going into that bout, but once again he came up short.

Right now the roster is simply too stacked to reward a loyal soldier like Goto with a G1 tournament win.

However, we could see him once again acting as gatekeeper in this year's final.
