8. Finn Balor Vs. Pete Dunne – Takeover: Vengeance Day

NXT TakeOver Brooklyn IV Tommaso Ciampa Johnny Gargano
WWE

Finn Balor just loves to continue to outdo himself. The best thing about ‘The Prince’ is that he never seems to be content with his performances, constantly striving to be better. As a result, he continues to churn out classics like this one.

This match was everything a wrestling fan loves in a match; everything was done with intent and purpose. Every strike was targeted with strategy, every slam was done in an attempt to end the match and even the rest holds were chosen to look dangerous enough that there could be a tap out at any second. It was textbook wrestling and a real testament to how talented both men are, especially Dunne who once more grabbed yet another one of WWE’s proverbial ‘brass rings’ to add to his ever-growing collection. Only a mere two months into 2021 and the pair were able to set the tone early and present a Match of the Year candidate.

The aftermath of the shocking Undisputed Era implosion didn’t detract at all from the outstanding action that preceded it, only proving even more so, just how good this match
