Every NXT TakeOver Main Event In History: Ranked
34. Samoa Joe Vs. Finn Balor – Takeover: The End
Another match that would surprise many to be this low on the list.
Being Finn Balor’s final NXT appearance, until his eventual 2019 return, you would think that Joe and Balor would go all out to make the last instalment of their trilogy the best of all. Unfortunately, it was the weakest of the three. Not a bad match whatsoever, it was merely just a combination of the two matches we’d already seen at the prior two Takeover events, just slapped inside a steel cage to try and freshen things up a bit.
The same intensity and the same move pieces, just with a few slams into the cage thrown in here and there for good measure. Just really much of the same as what we had already seen many times before. The only real high spot being the avalanche Muscle Buster that finished off the affair and sent Balor packing to the main roster.
Being the only time ‘The Demon’ has recorded a loss, it was a strong affair of course, but due to its repetitiveness, it is not as high as other main events.
