Every WCW Heavyweight Champion: Where Are They Now?

7. David Arquette

What a weirdly memorable disaster this was, not just for WCW, but the credibility of the wrestling industry as a whole. The night that actor David Arquette won the World Championship by pinning non-wrestler Eric Bischoff, to win the title from genuine wrestler Diamond Dallas Page... Arquette's tag team partner in the same match.

WCW was a wonderful thing.

His title run came to an after 12 days, as David lost the belt to Jeff Jarrett in a Triple Cage Match when he turned on his friend DDP. The whole thing was a big publicity stunt to promote Arquette's film 'Ready To Rumble' that happened to feature a handful of the promotion's talent.

Following his quick stint in the world of boots and tights, Arquette continued his acing career, appearing in a further 40-plus films as well as a host of TV series in the ensuing two decades. But he wasn't quite done with wrestling.

In 2018, after years of being ridiculed, the former champ stated that he wanted to clear his name and earn the respect of the wrestling world. He trained under Peter Avalon, making an in-ring comeback at the age of 47, taking to the independents throughout the year, even going to war Nick Gage in a crazy Deathmatch that he was quick to admit would be his first and last of the kind.
