Every WCW Ladder Match Ranked - From Worst To Best

2. Chris Benoit Vs. Jeff Jarrett - Starrcade

The first ladder match of the two between Benoit and Jarrett blows the one that took place the next night clean out of the water. This is somewhat remarkable considering the fact that Jarrett had already competed that night (against Dustin Rhodes), further proof that Jeff Jarrett was pretty damn good at his job way back in 1999.

Benoit was as good as anyone in the world at this time too, and the two do battle whilst the United States Championship hangs high above the ring in a match that is years ahead of everything else on the Starrcade 1999 card. The match is full of great moments, including a missile dropkick from Jarrett that sends Benoit flying off the ladder that crowd goes crazy for. Seriously, the pop for that is huge.

Benoit manages to hit a flying headbutt from the top of the ladder, before climbing back up and retrieving his title belt. Hidden amongst all of the ridiculousness of WCW towards the end of 1999, this is a great little ladder match that those interested should really go back and search out.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
