Every WrestleMania Triple Threat Match Ranked - From Worst To Best

2. Chris Benoit Vs. Triple H (c) Vs. Shawn Michaels - WrestleMania XX

10 years before a scrappy undersized professional wrestler did the impossible and defeated two sports entertainers on the biggest stage of them all, Chris Benoit was performing similar miracles of his own. In a moment that many thought would never happen, Benoit made Triple H tap out to the Crippler Crossface and ended the show embracing his close friend Eddie Guerrero as two men who stood at the top of their profession. In hindsight WrestleMania XX was a pretty below-par show, with way too much filler clogging up the undercard. The main event delivered in spades however, with all three men bringing their working boots to put on a match that pushed the triple threat singles bout to previously untouched heights. There were a number of innovative spots throughout, including the memorable visual of Triple H stopping Michaels from tapping out by holding his hand up in the air. This match also featured all three men heavily, with little in the way of rest for the third man, something that plagues most triple threats. This is true until the former D-Generation X buddies put Benoit through a table, leaving them to fight it alone until Benoit returns out of nowhere to re-enter the match. What happened in the years after this has soured anything and everything that Chris Benoit was involved with, but taken as a standalone match this is as good as any main event in WrestleMania history.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
