EVERY Wrestling Move Banned By WWE (And Why)

15. Buckle Bomb

The buckle bomb is a variation of the powerbomb that has become popular in pro wrestling rings in recent years. Unlike a powerbomb, the opponent is driven into the turnbuckle rather than into the mat. It is also one of the latest moves to be banned by WWE.

The move is exciting, unique, and a crowd-pleaser. However, when performing a buckle bomb, there is very little room for error and a very high risk for injury should there be a mistake in execution. WWE probably had no choice but to ban it after two scary incidents involving the maneuver.

At Night of Champions 2015, after a Seth Rollins buckle bomb, Sting was barely able to finish the match. That move ultimately ended his in-ring career. Then this past April, Nia Jax delivered a botched buckle bomb variation to Kairi Sane that could have had similar consequences.
