EVERY Wrestling Move Banned By WWE (And Why)

12. Shooting Star Press

The Shooting Star Press is one of the most impressive aerial moves in professional wrestling and was the brainchild of legendary highflyer Jushin Thunder Liger. Liger started using it back in the late 1980s, and stars such as Billy Kidman and Matt Sydal used it as their regular finisher. However, the Shooting Star Press has been banned by multiple promotions and WWE.

The Shooting Star Press is dangerous both to the wrestler performing it and the one on the receiving end. WWE found that out the hard way on a couple of occasions. In 2004, Kidman botched it and sent Chavo Gerrero to the sidelines for months.

Most famously, Brock Lesnar botched it in a WWE Championship match against Kurt Angle at WrestleMania XIX. Lesnar landed on his head and nearly broke his neck. Angle called the rest of the bout, and Lesnar is quoted as saying he didn’t remember anything after the Shooting Star Press.
