The very first Divas I Quit match took place on the final One Night Stand pay-per-view in 2008, as Beth Phoenix and Melina's rivalry reached the point of no return. It might not seem like such a big deal considering the progression made by WWE when it comes to women's wrestling in 2016, but in 2008 this was a big deal.

Beth and Melina were given time to tell a story and fight, free of gender stereotypes and cat-calling. What we got was an absolutely splendid 10 minute battle, one that Beth came out of looking like an absolute monster and Melina looked plucky in defeat.

Melina's freaky flexibility also had its very own showcase here, with Phoenix managing to repel Melina'a desperation and eventually putting her away with a submission that bends Melina in half. The human body seriously isn't supposed to bend that way.

This was a fabulous example of how an I Quit match should look. The heel looked monstrous in winning, the face lost nothing through losing. Job done.
