Every WWE Backlash PPV Ranked From Worst To Best
9. Backlash 2007
In fairness to Backlash 2007, it made the most of a potentially tricky main event. John Cena, Randy Orton, Edge and Shawn Michaels did battle for the WWE Championship - and while the sight of Cena retaining his title threatened to deflate the Atlanta crowd, it incorporated a satisfyingly creative finish. A desperate Sweet Chin Music sent the champion tumbling onto a prone Orton, where he accidentally retained his belt. A risky booking decision for sure, but one which seemed to pay off.
Unfortunately, the rest of the card was largely a disappointment - particularly the infamous handicap match pitting Umaga, Vince and Shane McMahon against ECW Champion Bobby Lashley. Yes, Vince booked himself to win the belt, a purely inflammatory piece of booking which garnered exactly the wrong type of heat.
The show's longest match saw Undertaker and Batista clash in a Last Man Standing bout - and the pair largely ignored the stipulation. Yes, 10-counts were administered and answered to, but the only unique spot in the match saw both men crash off the stage. The rest could easily have been standard singles affair, and the finish (a draw) didn't satisfy the fans a jot.
