2006's show benefitted from one of the best main events in the history of Backlash, a well-structured, well-executed triple threat match between John Cena, Triple H and Edge.

On paper, Cena retaining and Triple H laying out everybody seems a finish guaranteed to cause anger - but The Game teased a DX reunion during his post-match antics, putting an exciting cap on an already-dramatic climax to the show.

Shelton Benjamin and Rob Van Dam were the stars of the undercard, displaying their astonishing athleticism in a bout pitting RVD's Money in the Bank contract against Benjamin's Intercontinental Championship.

However, not everything on the show was a success - particularly the controversial tag match pitting Vince and Shane McMahon against the team of Shawn Michaels and 'God'. The less said about that the better (even if the in-ring action was actually quite good...).
