9. Batista Vs Triple H (2005)

Though not quite on a par with their decisive Hell in a Cell battle a month later, the WrestleMania rematch between Triple H and Batista surpassed their bloated inaugural encounter.

Working overtime to get Batista over as a credible headliner as he did throughout the programme, Triple H was more giving in the rematch, with his spell on offence offering substantially more drama that the drab middle section of their initial championship clash.

The story was exquisitely simple. Both men fought to hit their finisher at the earliest point, building off the logical approach that their big moves would ensure victory. Batista had floored 'The Game' at WrestleMania with his Batista Bomb, and Triple H had left 'The Animal' laying with a Pedigree on Monday Night Raw to ostensibly show that he was equally as capable.

It proceeded as such as a war of attrition, with the usual post-Attitude Era quirks such as blood and ref bumps that the company was still prone to rolling out at the time. A visual pinfall from the Pedigree while the referee was knocked out justified a reason for their final battle, before big Dave powered out of the corner with a Batista Bomb for his second consecutive victory over the former champion.
