7. The Undertaker Vs. Kama – SummerSlam 1995

The Undertaker’s clash with Kama was a turning point for the Casket Match. For the first time, the stipulation did not dominate the match and, as a result, there was no clear aggressor. While the match wasn’t an instant classic, Kama’s fighting style allowed us to see a more versatile Undertaker.

Although he was still dressed in his undead purple, The Phenom was no longer just a persona – he was a fighter. Slowly but surely, we were seeing a more agile, intense and dangerous Undertaker. This ended up significantly increasing the quality of his matches. Instead of the usual stalkingly slow approach, we saw a vicious brawl between two evenly-matched powerhouses. And although watching the lengthy fight can make you feel as fatigued as The Undertaker and Kama clearly were, it was a refreshing change to see this bout transcend its gimmick to deliver a solid wrestling match.
