Dwayne Johnson was the greatest individual beneficiary of the Attitude Era’s success, currently enjoying life as the biggest movie star in the world. It was in the late '90s when he began his ascent to superstardom, winning the WWF championship three times. First, at Survivor Series 1998, he turned heel and joined The Corporation, and began his famous feud with Mankind, where the two would swap the belt with Rocky coming out as a three-time champion. From there, he lost his title to Steve Austin at WrestleMania XV in the main event. He would not become champion again until spring of 2000, but by then, he was already the biggest star in the business.

Rock may not have had the most memorable world title runs, but it was when he was the Corporate Champion going into WrestleMania that WWE was at its all-time zenith. The fact that he earned a WrestleMania main event less than three years into his main event run shows what a natural fit he was for the championship slot. The Rock was the people’s champion, and he was an exemplary world champion.
