'The Game' ultimately got his wish - he could never be Ric Flair, but became WWE's closest approximation of the 'Nature Boy' by virtue of his association with the iconic Big Gold Belt.

The whole thing was a tribute act beyond the lengthy reigns. In stark contrast to everything 'Slick Ric' was amazing at, Triple H's matches and promos were usually dire and laced with insecure shortcuts. Only when John Cena and Batista burst through at exactly the same time between 2004 and 2005 did he finally accept his fate as a fallen idol.
