In a match that was originally planned to be a one on one WWE Championship match between Drew McIntyre and Sheamus, the star power and carnage that ensued was more than enough to make up for the change of plans.

In a staple of a good Elimination Chamber match, all six competitors did not look out of place inside the steel structure and everybody was made to look strong. The most accomplished wrestler in the match, Randy Orton, arguably looked the weakest as he was eliminated first. He did get his payback on both Kofi Kingston and Jeff Hardy, hitting them with an RKO before leaving. AJ Styles played up his veteran skills having Omos rip open his pod so he could capitalize on Orton’s attack.

While the finals looked destined to be Drew McIntyre with his former friend Sheamus, it ended up being Styles who was last to fall to a Claymore Kick. The show wasn’t over, though, as a post-match attack by Bobby Lashley and a Money in the Bank cash-in by The Miz ruined the celebration for The Scottish Warrior.

As is usually the case, a title match immediately after the sadistic Elimination Chamber does devalue what just happened, but at least this made sense with the Money in the Bank cash-in.
