Every WWE Gimmick Match And The Wrestlers That Defined Them

14. Tables Match - The Dudley Boyz

The Dudley Boyz introduced the gimmick match to WWE, and beyond Seth Rollins and John Cena's deeply impressive main event elevation of it, it belongs as the preserve of the lower and midcard, and of the duo themselves.

Their match against the Hardy Boyz, at Royal Rumble 2000, was a hugely fun, violent sprint that incorporated disgusting chair shots to the head and several exhilarating last-minute escapes. It was a refined, story-driven update on the Dudleys' plodding ECW garbage fare - an underrated, rare occasion on which an act made outside of and parachuted into the WWF became all the better for making the jump.

From the cheap, nasty heat to the basic, pounding big lad offence, there was always a beautifully simple joy to be had with the Dudley Boyz, one reflected in the simple snap of compressed sawdust.
