Next up we have the most recent Last Man Standing match - Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens’ meeting for the Intercontinental Championship at the 2016 Royal Rumble.

As the first match of this type in the belt’s history, the two made it an occasion to remember. By the end of the evening, the scene was more reminiscent of that of a hardcore bout, with kendo sticks, chairs and tables strewn across the ring and surrounding it.

Highlights included Ambrose’s last-minute struggles to get to his feet, a swinging fisherman superplex onto a table, as well as Owens taking a back body drop through an unfolded chair. But the pick of the lot was perhaps the conclusion itself: with Owens going up top for an ambitious moonsault onto a pile of chairs, Ambrose leapt to his feet to shove his opponent off the turnbuckle and through a stack of tables on the outside.

It brought to a close a mid-card match of 20-plus minutes that would make many a main event envious.
