On paper, Randy Orton vs. CM Punk sounds like it has the potential to be a classic, but their Last Man Standing meeting at Extreme Rules 2011 didn’t quite live up to that promise.

Though we saw kendo sticks, chairs, and a super-RKO from the top rope, there wasn’t a great deal of excitement beyond that. Even Orton’s RKO-through-a-table spot didn’t quite come off, in a moment that just about summed up the shortcomings of this match.

Perhaps it suffered from the fact that they’d put on such an enjoyable showing in their straight-up singles meeting at WrestleMania XXVII just four weeks prior. Either way, it was just somewhat lacking compared to what you might have expected.

Still, at least Orton didn’t break any bones this time…
