Winning the Money in the Bank Ladder match at WrestleMania 22, Rob Van Dam was the first good guy to do so. Carrying the briefcase around with him everywhere he went, the ever-confident Van Dam even went on to win the Intercontinental Championship from Shelton Benjamin at Backlash 2006.

On the announcement that ECW would be reborn as a third brand for WWE, Paul Heyman announced that his first draft pick for the Land of Extreme was Mr Money in the Bank, Rob Van Dam.

In the lead up to the second instalment of the One Night Stand pay-per-view, The Whole F’n Show told John Cena he would be cashing in his contract for a shot at the WWE Championship in the main event.

Performing in front of 2,500 ECW supporters at the Manhattan Centre, Rob Van Dam delivered one of the best performances of his career. Cena, WWE’s blue-eyed boy, was decimated by those in attendance and it remains one of his best performances as well.

In the phenomenal finale of the contest, a disguised Edge appeared from the crowd, spearing Cena to a huge ovation. Van Dam delivered a Five Star Frogsplash, picking up his first WWE Title.
