How He Won It: Bryan won the Smackdown Money in the Bank match at the 2011 self-titled pay-per-view. He downed Kane, Sin Cara, Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel and Sheamus in a grand opener. An outside bet, msot suspected either Kane, Shemaus or Wade would be leaving with the briefcase that night.

Bryan was a popular winner in Chicago.

What He Did With It: In a bit of misdirection, WWE had Bryan go on something of a losing streak and wasn't even featured on the five pay-per-views after SummerSlam, either wrestling in dark matches or left off the card completely. Bryan had maintained all along that he planned to cash-in at WrestleMania, but that was a case of misdirection too...

The bearded wonder actually cashed-in on The Big Show following Show's World Heavyweight Title triumph over Mark Henry at December's TLC.

Effect On Career: Huge. Bryan as World Heavyweight Champion, with the 'NO!' chants and storyline with AJ Lee was great. It really put him on the map as a main event talent, even if that was momentarily derailed with the 18-second loss to Sheamus at WrestleMania 28.

Bryan was then able to feud with WWE Champion CM Punk after dropping the WHC at 'Mania, something he might not have been able to do had it not been for the series of events triggered by him winning the Money in the Bank match.
