Every WWE Money In The Bank Winner Ranked - From Worst To Best
6. Rob Van Dam
How He Won It: Mr. Money in the Bank lifted the briefcase at WrestleMania 22, in only the second every MITB ladder match. This time the match featured a 50/50 split of Smackdown and Raw talent, with RVD joining Ric Flair, Finlay, Matt Hardy, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin.
It was a good match, although not as good as the year before, with Van Dam being the MVP.
What He Did With It: Van Dam decided against a surprise cash-in, instead forewarning his opponent John Cena and setting the match up for the ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view. This was smart, from a character perspective, as The Whole F'N Show had a decided home field advantage in the Hammerstein Ballroom.
Van Dam won the WWE Title for the first time that night after a good match, following interference from Edge. He was then given the ECW World Title as well for the relaunch of that group as a third brand. Regrettably, Van Dam and Sabu's infamous highway drug bust would mean that both reigns were transitional, as he was slapped with a thirty-day suspension and made to drop both belts in the space of a couple of days.
Effect On Career: Not a lot, unfortunately, as Van Dam never again recaptured the WWE Title, a belt he was only in possession of for around three weeks. In spit of this, the ladder match at 'Mania 22 and the heated epic with Cena make him a good Money in the Bank winner.
