11. Roadblock: End Of The Line
Roadblock: The End of the Line seemed to have inherited NXT’s weird TakeOver naming conventions (NXT TakeOver: The End... of the Beginning springs to mind), but very little of its flair or quality. Again, Roadblock wasn’t a terrible show, but thanks to some poor build up and some mismatched heel/face alignments, it wound up feeling more like a decent episode of RAW than a full blown PPV.
The tag division set the bar high early on, with an absolute belter of a match, which saw RAW’s resident odd couple Sheamus and Cesaro finally topple The New Day’s colossal reign. That pace or excitement was never really matched – Neville came close, when he kicked the ever loving tar out of Rich Swann and TJ Perkins, but his brilliant heel-iness was cheered, purely because it signified some actual depth and excitement arriving in the Cruiserweight division.
Elsewhere, yet another mini-Shield reunion fell a little flat, since it came at the expense of golden boys Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens, and Sasha and Charlotte finally(?) ended their lengthy feud in a match that was painful to watch in every way imaginable. Not a disaster, but a weird and slightly uncomfortable way to see out the year.
