Every WWE Release Of 2021 - Where Are They Now? (Five Years Later)
75. Chelsea Green
Then: A broken wrist injury meant that Chelsea Green's planned win on the 13 November 2020 episode of SmackDown was changed. Liv Morgan got the nod instead, and Green faced a lengthy spell on the sidelines rehabbing. WWE didn't wait around too long before making their stance on Chelsea's future clear.
She didn't have one.
They released Green from her contract in April 2021, and she'd go off to work in ROH and for Impact/TNA before making a grand WWE return under Triple H's watch in early-2023. That Royal Rumble spot was the start of something special for Chelsea.
Now: Green became WWE's first Women's United States Champion by defeating Michin at Saturday Night's Main Event on 14 December 2024. Though technically a heel, Chelsea was cheered by the live crowd. Fans appreciate how much Green puts into her performances, and they admire how hard she works to make the best of everything creative sends her way.
That title toast was a sweet one for Chels.
The US Title win gave Green a new gimmick. She became head of the 'Secret Hervice', and has been a riot on TV ever since. There's every chance that Hunter will turn Chelsea full blown babyface someday. She's that popular and that endearing. A cameo appearance during the first season of WWE Unreal on Netflix showed just how likeable Green actually is.
Think of Chelsea as a women's division version of The Miz. She can work with anyone, perform countless jobs without losing credibility and more. What a pro.
