Every WWE Release Of 2021 - Where Are They Now? (Five Years Later)
58. Ruby Riott
Then: WWE were in the midst of a Riott Squad reunion between Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan when the former was released on 2 June 2021. Suddenly, any hopes the duo had of rekindling the faction they'd worked with Sarah Logan and possibly becoming Women's Tag-Team Champs were dashed, and it looked like a dark day for Liv too.
Instead, Morgan has gone on to become one of the biggest stars in the promotion. How about Riott? Well, she was rebranded as Ruby Soho and jumped to AEW in time for All Out in September. At first, Soho was welcomed to the All Elite fold like a major star had just crash landed, but the honeymoon period ended fairly swiftly and she was just another name on the roster by the turn of the new year in 2022.
That's arguable, but yes - she wasn't exactly pulling up trees.
Now: Ruby and her husband Angelo Parker had a baby together in October 2024, and Soho has been on maternity leave since then. The most recent reports suggest she's been busy training hard for an in-ring return, so that'll be a nice moment for her when it happens.
AEW's female ranks might've moved on since 2024 though. Some fresh faces have seized the kind of spots once reserved for Ruby, so it'll be interesting to see where she slots back in on the roster. By the time that happens, she'll be raring to go and eager to re-stamp her mark.
Improving on the dire Rampage storyline she worked before her absence would be lovely too.
