Every WWE Release Of 2021 - Where Are They Now? (Five Years Later)
36. Kona Reeves
Then: A heel turn to become 'The Finest' Kona Reeves in 2018 didn't work out for this guy. That's putting it mildly. WWE seemed to be fully invested in the new direction initially, but it was more of a flavour of the month scenario than anyone cared to admit. They were slinging stuff at the wall with Kona by then, but just didn't want to outright say that.
He was released from his contract on 6 August 2021.
Now: Reeves has kept working here or there on the independent circuit, and he even had one solitary match for the NWA in July 2023 - that came against then-World Television Champion (and fellow former WWE alumni) Thom Latimer. It was a losing effort, of course. The renamed Noah Kekoa couldn't expect anything more from a one off appearance.
Remarkably, Kona has moved from wrestling into another stunt show vocation. He's a stunt performer at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and mainly works on an Indiana Jones ride. It's unclear whether or not that's the only thing Reeves does at the park. Suppose coming from pro wrestling does give somebody a unique skillset!
During an interview with Muscle Man Malcolm, Kona said: "I beat up Indiana Jones for a living". That's probably preferable to doing countless jobs to Keith Lee on NXT, to be fair. Good on the guy for pivoting to a new career and keeping his interest in wrestling alive on the independents.
His latest match was in March 2026, so he still has plenty of gas in the tank.
