Every WWE Smackdown Intro Ranked – From Worst To Best

22. 2011

Finally, things are starting to take a turn for the better, and that’s largely thanks to the dulcet tones of Green Day.

2011’s intro saw the use of the punk icons’ track “Know Your Enemy”, with that rasping snare drum providing an emphatic opening at the very top of the show.

There was also room for some cool graphics which, most importantly, didn’t impede the shots of the wrestlers. Suitably, there were snakeskin scales in the background of Orton’s pose, while we saw a surge of golden ember light across Kane’s body as he nailed his signature chokeslam signal.

The video also had some nice alignment with the theme music; a flash of images in time with one of Tré Cool’s trademark, staccato, machine gun fills, as well as a flash in Orton’s eyes during the “blinded by the light in your eyes” lyric.

The only reason I haven’t ranked this one higher is that this was “21st Century Breakdown” Green Day, something from their earlier catalogue may have been a little more preferable.
