This was the best of Charlotte's short reigns with the Smackdown title because it both served a purpose and had great work in between the ropes. A transitional reign that annoyed pretty much everyone at first, her sneaking out a victory in a triple threat at SummerSlam over Carmella and Becky Lynch drove the fans crazy since it was assumed to be Becky's time. A heel turn from Becky after the bell which was designed to get over Flair as a babyface completely failed, with the crowd euphoric at 'The Lass Kicker laying strikes into her former best friend, and booing Charlotte whenever she came out with the blue belt.

She didn't do much on the Smackdowns in between SummerSlam and Hell in a Cell except keep the hottest feud in the company going, a match that warranted the titular stipulation and deserved to main event the entire show. Both women wrestled each other immaculately, having some of the best technical exchanges on a main roster PPV that year. Despite failing at being a convincing babyface, The Queen delivered a phenomenal performance and her sudden loss cemented Becky as a feasible megastar.

The feud they'd continue in the following months was the best main roster rivalry of that year, and without Flair's run with the title here, it's unlikely that Becky would have obtained the momentum that lead her to winning the first ever women's WrestleMania main event.
