Charlotte’s second reign of the year was shorter by a couple of weeks but did the bare minimum of fulfilling an angle. While it was a division-derailing decision to do the Becky Two Belts plan without forethought, it was seen by many as something that could be exciting. Unfortunately, she just immediately lost to Charlotte Flair in arguably their worst match together, where the angle of Lacey Evans’ involvement took away their potential in-ring.

This transitional reign seemed at first as just a way to reignite the status quo from before Mania 35, completely stripping away the point of Becky’s victory at Mania since Flair hadn’t taken the pin and had the belt beforehand. The MITB cash-in of Bayley afterwards was great storytelling and managed to reignite the passion in the division with a fired-up babyface victory.

The unfortunate impact of Charlotte’s several-minute title reign was while it forged a new future for the belt, her victory lacked the impact that taking one of Becky’s belts should have, and the accomplishment at Mania was totally undermined by the time Bayley held the belt over her head. Thankfully Money in the Bank ended with hope for where the division could go, instead of pessimism that plagued a lot of fans in the months previous, so 'The Queen' deserves her credit for that transition.
