The third and final reign that Charlotte had last year was the best of them. They’re all pretty even in their pointlessness, and while she is one of the best wrestlers in the company, it’s hard to argue that any of her runs had any sufficient benefit on the division or the title’s importance. It's disappointing that her work in the ring with or around the belt was underwhelming by her high standards as well.

While this is the least directly troubling title win, in the months that followed, her brief under a week title run seemed to exist only to ensure that Bayley’s record-breaking title reign didn't last too long. However, Flair’s involvement with Bayley over September/October did help with the transition to the latter's heel run, which has defined the blue brand in the months since.

It’s good that Charlotte’s pedigree was used to further an angle and wrestler on television, however her winning the title was unnecessary. The story could have been told just as well if Flair had failed to regain the belt, as it would have kept Bayley's newfound momentum more intact. The matches between the two at Clash of Champions, Hell in a Cell and on Smackdown didn’t deliver either, with The Queen seemingly refusing to sell and Bayley’s heel offence being misguided and underdeveloped. It was a disappointing series of matches for women we know have chemistry and cemented her 2019 as Smackdown's champion as an unnecessary failure.
