Every WWE Survivor Series Ranked - From Worst To Best

The 1991 Survivor Series runs along similar lines, albeit without the fantastic team names. The opening match of this show is particularly fun, as Ric Flair teams with Ted DiBiase, The Warlord, and The Mountie to take on Roddy Piper, Bret Hart, The British Bulldog, and Virgil. If ever there was a wider margin between the good and the bad in a match, I'd love to see it.

The Undertaker won his first WWF Championship during the event, defeating Hulk Hogan thanks to Ric Flair and a chair. That damn Jack Tunney later intervened and set up This Tuesday In Texas, which in turn led to the vacating of the WWF Championship and the frankly glorious 1992 Royal Rumble.

The Rockers also continued their split on this show, Marty Jannetty inadvertently causing Shawn Michaels to be eliminated in their match. One year later, Shawn Michaels would be competing in the first ever singles main event in Survivor Series history.

A fabulously consistent card from top to bottom was headlined by one of the last great Hell in a Cell matches in WWE, between Batista and The Undertaker. The Animal walked out the winner and World Heavyweight Champion, thanks to the interference of Edge. It wasn't the way anyone wanted the match to end, but the quality was so high that nobody complained.

Elsewhere Jeff Hardy and Umaga put in notable performances in Team Triple H's victory over Team Umaga, and Randy Orton defended the WWE Championship in an excellent match with Shawn Michaels in which the Sweet Chin Music was banned.

The Great Khali defeated Hornswoggle in a match that most fans have erased from their memories, and CM Punk overcame the soon-to-team Miz and Morrison to defend the ECW Heavyweight Championship.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
