11. Dexter Lumis

Given how he came back into the company, Dexter Lumis seemed poised to be the most unlikely of breakout stars when he returned in August 2022.

Released from NXT just four months earlier, Lumis had been married in storyline to Indi Hartwell, making his departure confusing (as were several releases during this time). When he returned, however, Lumis showed up on the main roster, causing havoc by kidnapping and stalking the Miz for months.

It was a bizarre storyline, with Johnny Gargano having to provide the exposition for the mute Dexter. The wrinkle finally was revealed: Miz had paid Lumis to stage these attacks, but then stiffed the Silent Man, escalating the feud. Lumis would win a WWE contract, but ultimately lose the feud due to a debuting Bronson Reed.

Since then, Lumis has been used almost as much as a second to Indi Hartwell in NXT (twice) than he has on Raw (three matches in 2023). Lumis’ creepiness means he can always be used as comic relief, and if The Way ever gets restarted, Dexter would likely be a part of that.

But after a high-profile return, it’s been a whole lot of nothing for the past seven months.
