Noticing a pattern here?

Candice LeRae left WWE on her own terms, allowing her NXT contract to expire in May 2022 while out on maternity leave. She would return to the company that September, just seven months after giving birth. LeRae’s return was another that was hailed as one of great potential, viewed as Triple H adding depth and strength to the women’s division.

The Poison Pixie picked up wins over Nikki ASH, Dakota Kai and even Bayley during her first couple of months, but she also lost to Iyo Sky, Rhea Ripley and Carmella. It would probably be best to describe her return run as “uneven.”

Probably the biggest crime here (and it’s one that has plagued a few of these returns) is that there was little in the way of building up these superstars and (re)introducing them to fans. LeRae never competed on the main roster, so non-NXT fans might not have any idea who she was, and that was born out of the silence that has accompanied several of her matches.

More recently, LeRae has been in limbo as it’s unclear whether WWE will resume The Way, her NXT faction with husband Johnny Gargano, Indi Hartwell and Dexter Lumis (they’ve all been seen together after the draft), or if there will be a DIY reunion with Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa.
