Everything You Need To Know About The IMPACT Wrestling Slammiversary Teases
8. Tetsuya Naito
The tease: some old footage of Tetsuya Naito circa-2009 was shown in the first trailer, back when he teamed with Yujiro Takahashi as No Limit.
The likelihood of it happening: <15%
As mesmerising as it would be to see Tetsuya Naito sauntering out to on to the Slammiversary stage, your writer just can't see it happening. Maybe, just maybe, if he and SANADA came out with the IWGP Tag Team Championships to challenge the winners of the IMPACT tag titles match?
That's the only way your writer could see it happening, and even then, it's immensely unlikely. Naito - and SANADA, for that matter - are advertised for a six-man tag on the same day as part of New Japan's Summer Struggle tour. They'll team with BUSHI to face Suzuki-gun's Minoru Suzuki, Zack Sabre Jr., and Taichi.
At the time of writing, it is literally impossible for Naito to be at Slammiversary, unless it's via a pre-taped promo. It seems entirely likely that IMPACT may have inserted the likes of Naito and Bullet Club solely to build anticipation for these huge names of Japanese wrestling.
Sadly, unless his New Japan booking is just a ploy to throw us off, Naito won't be in Nashville.
