6. Who Will Win Block A?

All of which leaves three potential winners of Block A, and even one of these is something of a long shot.

Naomichi Marufuji of Pro Wrestling NOAH finds himself in the tournament, one of two men from that promotion taking part this year. Marufuji is something of a legend, being the only man to win junior heavyweight titles in all three major Japanese wrestling promotions. Not too shabby.

Marufuji winning the whole thing isn't going to happen, but there is every chance he could win Block A and come up short in the final. Either way, expect some fantastic matches with Marufuji involved, except against Bad Luck Fale.

Which leaves us with two men, two men whose fates over the last few years have been so ever closely tied. Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada have been in the main event of the last two Wrestle Kingdom events, and have put on a series of matches that is up there with any other legendary series.

One thing that goes against Okada here is that he is currently the IWGP Heavyweight Champion. The champ usually takes part in the tournament, but has only made it to the finals on five occasions. Only twice has the champion won. History is not on Okada's side.

Because of that, I'm plumping for Hiroshi Tanahashi walking out of Block A on top. LOL TANA WINS it might be, but it makes the most sense.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
