Ex-WWE Champion "In Control" Of His Return Schedule

Triple H and WWE have been patient with this ex-World Champ for a reason.

It's been two years since Big E suffered a serious neck injury on SmackDown, but the New Day man says WWE continues to be patient on any possible return schedule. In fact, Triple H and other members of upper management have been golden with the former WWE Champ throughout his surgery and rehab.

E told CBS Sports that Trips "put [him] in control of that" - "that" refers to a potential in-ring comeback someday. The New Day powerhouse is at the stage where he can walk around and even go to the gym just fine, but taking bumps inside a pro wrestling ring is something else entirely.

That must be a daunting thought for E, and he's still weighing up whether or not the "gamble is worth it". Surely most wrestling fans would agree that Big E's health and happiness are the most important things here. He told interviewers that he "never wanted to leave sports hobbled and crippled", so there's a lot to think about.

E has been able to lean on advice from childhood/teen heroes like Steve Austin and Adam 'Edge' Copeland since disaster struck during a seemingly routine tag bout in March 2022. He's "so thankful" for that, because their help has kept him mentally strong throughout a traumatic period in his life.

Again, E's health is paramount.
