Who wanted to set the record straight?

Former WWE star Lio Rush and current NXT man Finn Bálor squashed rumours that started online several years ago about perceived backstage heat.

According to earlier rumours, Bálor had given Rush some advice about his son being backstage, and that rubbed Lio the wrong way. Now, it seems that was either exaggerated or outright false.

Rush got the ball rolling by tweeting out that he wanted to "nip this in the bud", but he was frustrated that Finn wouldn't publicly rubbish reports at the time. Firing back, Bálor said that he prefers to "live life in reality" and that Lio should call him to talk if he wants to.

In other words, the Irishman's reply was very measured, mature and excellently-worded.

Lio then said that he appreciated Finn's reply and that he has always "had the upmost (he meant utmost) respect" for Bálor. That, it appears, seems to be that - there likely was some beef between both men after the rumours started, but it obviously didn't mean as much to Finn as it did to Rush.

They've since spoken about the incident and decided to move on.
