Ex-WWE Star Promised Dying Friend She'd Perform At WrestleMania
A promise to her parting friend led to WrestleMania for this former WWE worker.
This is deep.
Former WWE star Kairi Sane has revealed that she once promised a dying/dead friend that she'd work a match on the main card at WrestleMania in their honour. Sane told this story to Entame Next - the interview was then translated from Japanese to English by a user on Reddit.
Kairi admitted that she "didn’t really intend to live permanently in the US" when she left Japan back in 2017. Her main goal was to improve herself as a performer, but then things got personal. One of her best friends passed, and Sane had vowed to showcase her skills as tribute on WWE's grandest stage.
She'd finally get to do that by teaming with Asuka against Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross at WrestleMania 36. The show didn't take place in front of a live crowd, and instead emanated from the empty WWE Performance Center in Orlando, but Sane was nonetheless proud of seeing her promise through.
After that, she started to wonder what was next.
Kairi eventually left WWE in July 2020. After working as an ambassador for the company remotely in Japan, her contract then expired in December 2021.
