Ex-WWE Star Robert 'Mo' Horne Dead At 58 - Former Tag Team Champion Passes Away (WWE News)
'Sir Mo' Bobby Horne has passed away.
In some sad news, former WWE Tag Team Champion Bobby 'Mo' Horne has passed away at the age of 58. He had recently been battling a blood infection and pneumonia.
WWE Hall of Famer Leilani Kai was one of the first to announce this tragic news, taking to Facebook with the following:
It breaks my heart to hear that Bobby Horne, better known to wrestling fans as Sir Mo of Men on a Mission, has passed away. ? I first met Bobby when we were both traveling with the WWF in the mid-90s. He was always kind to me — always smiling, joking around, and treating everyone with respect. When you were new or didn’t quite fit in yet, Bobby had a way of making you feel welcome. That meant a lot back then, especially on those long road trips when being part of the locker room family mattered most. We also worked together many times later on the Carolina independent circuit, and he was just as genuine outside the spotlight as he was under it. He loved the business, loved the fans, and loved giving back. Bobby had that special kind of warmth that reminded you wrestling isn’t just about what happens in the ring — it’s about the people and memories that come with it. Rest in peace, my friend. Thank you for every laugh, every kind word, and every night we shared on the road. You’ll be missed by all of us who knew you.
Trained by Ivan Koloff and Ole and Gene Anderson, Bobby Horne made his in-ring debut in 1991 and was soon paired with Nelson Frazier (the future Mabel/Viscera) as the Harlem Knights. That tandem would have success in the Carolinas and then into Memphis with the USWA, feuding with the likes of Jerry Lawler and Jeff Jarrett.
By 1993, the Harlem Knights would land in the then-WWF, taking the Men on a Mission name, with Horne as Mo, and Frazier as Mabel, complete with Oscar as their manager. M.O.M. would have a short run with the WWE Tag Team Titles during a 1994 European tour, beating the Quebeccers for the gold before dropping them back to Jacques and Pierre just a matter of days later.
Once Mabel won the 1995 King of the Ring, Mo switched to more of a manager role, as Sir Mo, wrestling more sporadically as he instead accompanied King Mabel to the ring for feuds with the likes of Diesel and the Undertaker. Men on a Mission would depart the promotion in early 1996, returning to Memphis and picking up their rivalry with Jerry Lawler. Horne would make several wrestling returns over the years, with his final match coming in 2020, where he worked an independent show in Florida.
From all of us at WhatCulture Wrestling, best wishes to the family, friends, and fans of Bobby Horne at this sad time.
