Fascinating WWE Ideas That Flopped HARD!
3. Cruiserweight Division/205 Live
The Cruiserweight Classic injected an otherwise horrendously tired WWE product with a bit of life back in 2016.
Gathering together some of the brightest talents on planet Earth to compete in a thrilling 32-person tournament, the future actually looked quite bright for those WWE fans fond of highly technical and outrageously athletic in-ring action.
And in the wake of crowning the inaugural Cruiserweight Champion - or at least the first one who would carry around a belt not won by Hornswoggle - WWE decided to chuck their high-flying, wrestling machines onto the red brand.
They even went and switched on the purple lights and swapped over the ropes for these special showcases.
But rather than unleashing that glorious Cruiserweight Classic energy during their Raw segments every week, the likes of TJ Perkins, Cedric Alexander, and the rest of the exciting names involved were regularly given little time to properly connect with the main roster crowd.
And though Neville would at least eventually tear it up for a while with the strap, this half-arsed Cruiserweight revival was looking like a frustrating flop even before the often overlooked 205 Live eventually stumbled onto screens.
WWE appeared to lose interest in trying to recapture the spirit of that wonderful tournament almost immediately. So, despite still producing the odd in-ring gem over the years, both the division and 205 Live ended up going down in history as yet another disappointing WWE flop.
